My journey started as soon as I joined a webinar that blew my mind away with the enthusiastic impact of technology in today’s situation. It was an incredible experience to know that someone like me, or like you, from a different background, a non-tech person who never thought she would be venturing her horizons outside of her interests, her comfort zone, and even her network.

From there, I started to focus my attention on knowing the possibilities of learning something beyond my course. Although unrelated as others were supposed to say, having a physics background as my bachelor’s degree gave me the unrelenting and prevalent comfort that the mathematics, such as linear algebra, calculus, and statistics, had been taught to us, even the basics were being explained to us. Because these are fundamental mathematics that are being incorporated into Data Science, Machine Learning, and even Artificial Intelligence,

Thus, shifting from a science background to a tech-related horizon is never easy, but not impossible for anyone, and also for me as well. I joined my first bootcamp, which was offered by the Coding School, a program in partnership with DataCamp, where anyone who would wish to upskill and learn more about Data Science, Machine Learning, and even the programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and use of the Power Bi and Tableau is being included with the 3-month Diretcho Trabaho Program.

In those three months of learning attentively about data science, starting from the syntax and codes in Python, How you can apply what you learned through the lessons with the activities and quizzes every day after the discussion in the DataCamp course. It was an incredible experience for someone who is new to using Python in data science applications. You can also try doing the projects listed there to get your hands dirty with the data.

From there on, as I finished it, I was able to be one of the top 10 achievers in that program, which I was able to finish 56 courses overall in 3 intermediate tracks and 2 for the career path, such as Data Scientist in Python and Machine Learning Specialist in Python. With that, I realize how anyone can start from not having any background in it to excelling in that specific area where you can venture out, expand your horizons, take the initiative to attend advanced classes, and most importantly, learn with your peers throughout the program.

Now, as for those of you who are reading this, regardless of where and what background you are, You can shift into technology as you wish, learn from it, and enjoy the process of getting beyond your comfort zone with the new skillset and new horizons you have in there. Thus, technology is for everyone, for anyone, and can be done by anyone from different backgrounds, age, gender, or even wherever you are right now. What are you waiting for? Go try it!
